About La’Fun

Meet La’Fun
Founder and CEO of La’Fun Entertainment Limited

Hi, I’m Oluwafunmilayo-La’Fun Cecilia Asogbon Ayibiowu, but please call me La’Fun. My name, “La’Fun,” is a blend of my own name, Oluwa(Funmilayo), and represents a more personal version of me. Originally, I went by “Lady FunL’ayo,” but after some thoughtful feedback from family.
Over time, the name naturally evolved to “La” from Lady and “Fun” from FunL’ayo, eventually transforming into “La’Fun.” To me, La’Fun represents the bringer of inspiration through joy, passion, and fun, guiding others towards uprightness and positivity in all they do.
I was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to parents originally from Ondo State. I grew up in Lagos with my parents, three of my siblings, uncles, cousins, and domestic workers.
And later I moved to Dublin, Ireland, where I’ve lived for over two decades with my own family. As a wife and a mother, my family is a huge part of my life.
From a young age, I was drawn to music, though it wasn’t my mother’s first choice for me….she envisioned me as a lawyer, doctor, or engineer. At five, I was already writing my own songs, but my mother didn’t like it hence there was a stop to it.
Despite that, during my university days, I ventured into many different things… modeling, fashion, and beauty pageants (where I even won a few).
In Nigeria, I also created my own business, supplying corporate gifts such as pens, face caps, books, bikes, and more. I worked as a contractor, gaining years of valuable experience in business management and customer relations. These ventures helped shape my entrepreneurial mindset and fueled my drive to succeed in multiple fields.
While living in Ireland, I worked various jobs to support my ambitions. I worked as a kitchen porter, warehouse picker, many warehouse roles, even as a healthcare assistant. And later studied accounting and payroll. I went on to pursue ACCA and worked for many years in accounting, administration.
Throughout this time, I never lost sight of my dreams, whether as a storyteller through music or film, and I ensured I had the financial stability to make them a reality.
I studied music in Ireland, and for over a decade, I have been working professionally in the music industry. Every song I release reflects the growth I’ve experienced, both as an artist and as a person. Music has always been my true calling, and each track marks another step in my journey,
In addition to my work in music, I also studied film production and took acting classes, which laid the foundation for my own creative projects. These experiences have given me the tools to bring my stories to life, both in front of and behind the camera. My journey as a filmmaker began with a strong desire to create my own narratives, and now, with my background in film production and acting, I’m able to shape and tell stories that are meaningful to me and help inspire and shape the world to make it a better place.
I also pursued a passion for social work and studying social care and social science, and working in social integration has strengthened my passion for helping people find their footing…. supporting them to build independence, pursue meaningful careers, and believe in their ability to thrive…..a role that reflects my personal values.
This journey has been about embracing every opportunity, evolving with time, and now, I’m thrilled to continue sharing my work with you in music and film.
Currently, I am the proud recipient of a grant for my film project, funded by Screen Ireland, the Irish government’s body for film and television funding.
This support is a testament to the dedication, innovation, and reliability that my work reflects. It’s an exciting step forward in my journey as a storyteller, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue creating and sharing my vision.
I am dedicated to building on everything I’ve learned to inspire and motivate others.
